When in Binondo: Estero Fast Food

When I say Chinese delicacies, there’s only one location in Metro Manila that comes in my mind– Binondo.

Binondo is a place where people look for Chinese food such as hopia, dumplings, peking duck, and more. This is also a place for our Chinese community in Metro Manila or simply referred to as the city’s Chinatown. We can’t deny the fact that the influence of their food culture affected Pinoys’ preferences.

So, I went to Binondo to have a client visit. And since I’m in the area, I took advantage of the opportunity to have a lunch in the famous Estero Fast Food at Ongpin Street. It is called Estero because the location is near a huge drainage of wastes.

At first, I was not at ease because the place is untidy and is not really pleasing at all. They also say that the fast food is for the food adventurers. But when the time I entered the alley, I can smell the delicious food aroma all over the place.  And I was reminded by the saying “Do not judge the book by its cover”.

Most of the reviews and feedback that I read were all positive (well, except the nearby drainage) because if not all, almost food that is being offered at Estero Fast Food are delectable.

Since there are lots of available food stalls to choose from, I went to the well-known LGA Fast Food. They are one of the oldest food concessionaires in Estero.

I ordered Fried Spare Ribs with Chili (Php 130 Small, PhP 180 Medium, PhP 230 Large), Beef Hotpot (PhP 140 Small, PhP 190 Medium, PhP 240 Large), and Bihon Canton Guisado (Php 115 Small, PhP 155 Medium, PhP 195 Large).

The appetizing Fried Spare Ribs with Chili is my favorite! The meat is crispy from the outside and juicy on the inside. The spices add more flavor which makes the dish finger-licking.

While the beef hotpot offers a real and rich taste of beef. It’s a perfect combination if you have a cup of hot rice. Surely, it will make you order an extra cup more.

And of course, Filipinos are noodle lovers. The Bihon Canton Guisado is not the dry canton that you are expecting. The dish has a savory sauce with chicken, shrimp, liver, and squid toppings.

Some people also suggest to order Fried Garlic Frog Legs and Lemon Chicken. Maybe when I get back in Estero, I’m gonna order those recommended food.

Prices are not that expensive. Small order is already good for two persons. It’s a great place for students, friends, or even families who are daredevils to dine in the hidden streets of Binondo.

Overall, the food were really mouthwatering. You can’t really judge the dishes from the area where the food stalls are located. Estero Fast Food is highly recommended if you are looking for tasty Chinese food.

If you want to dine in Estero Fast Food, you can visit them at Ongpin St., Binondo, Manila from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
